When Haley Beavers skates she has a sparkle in her eye that many say brings a smile to their face. Her love for the ice and music shines through as she dances across the ice.
Haley has the heart and determination of an athlete and the artistic ability of a performer. Haley started skating, one month before her 7th birthday with her sister, Madison in the Basic Skills Learn to Skate program.
A couple of months later Haley skated in the annual Holiday Ice Show and she was instantly hooked. She could not stop thinking about how much fun she had. She loved performing in front of an audience. That day she set her goals high and was looking forward to next year's Ice Show. Her goal would be to become a good enough skater to have a bigger roll in the next years show.
All her hard work and dedication was paying off. She had done very well her first year competing was asked to skate the part of "Clara" in the 2007 holiday ice show production "The Nutcracker".
Haley continued to work hard and set new goals. Her next big goal was to one day make her clubs Regional Team, get a team jacket and compete in the South Atlantic Regional Championships.
In August of 2009 Haley's competition season was coming to an end. Soon her club would be having their annual send off dinner for the Regional Team and the new members would be getting their Regional Team jackets. Haley started thinking how great it would be to compete at Regionals and how much she wanted her team jacket. The only thing was, she needed to pass 4 tests in 2 weeks. She would needed to increase her music by nearly a minute, learn 2 new freestyle programs and have strong enough skating skills for the Moves in the Field tests.
Haley was determined she knew what she needed to do. On August 31, 2009 after skating a little over 2 1/2 years, Haley passed all 4 test qualifying her for the South Atlantic Regional Championships. She became a member of her clubs Regional Team, received her Regional Team jacket and competed at Regionals.
One of Haley's long term goals is too one day skate for Team U.S.A.
